Anselmo Vigne Wine Napa Valley, California TEAM: OPTIMIST TEAM: ARTIST
STEVE SIMI

Anselmo "Steve" Simi's life long passion for wine began as a young boy when he helped his parents to crush grapes for their family wine, the way his grandparents did in Tuscany a generation before.

Ten years ago, after years of searching, Steve selected the site for Anselmo Vigne on the eastern foothills of Napa Valley because of the existing hillside vineyard's potential to make a world class Cabernet Sauvignon. Steve planted 2 additional acres, reduced the annual yield to 2.9 tons per acre, and changed the trellising system and the farming protocol to further enhance the quality of the fruit.

Spending over 1700 hours on the backhoe, carving out roads and the winery site from the rocky terrain, Steve designed and built Anselmo Vigne, The 2002 vintage is the first release, reflecting the power and grace of this wonderful vineyard.
